The Hackspace needs to ensure that working with children, and other vulnerable people, is done while following effective [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safeguarding Safeguarding] procedures. The reasons why safeguarding is necessary are to do with capability and responsibility; providing support is part of the culture of ensuring that use of the Hackspace meets agreed safety standards. Please note the cross-over with [[Health and Safety]].

Please note that we must emphasise that Safeguarding does ''not'' just apply to children, it must also apply to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulnerable_adult vulnerable adults], and that it may not be immediately obvious that an adult is 'vulnerable'. We also draw attention to [https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/safeguarding-children-and-young-people/safeguarding-children-and-young-people government guidelines] on Safeguarding.
