About The Hackspace has a Bernina Bernette 340 Deco Embroidery Machine, donated by Brett. The machine arrived without it's original hoops so we custom designed and 3d printed our own version matching Hoop A, courtesy of DJ. Since we only have Hoop A, the machine is only capable of producing patterns up to 116x110mm in size. How to access Reach out to Jacob in #textiles on Discord if you want to access and use the Embroidery machine. He'll also be happy to take you through how to use it. How to use The following is a quick summary of the manual, you can find a more detailed guide on the given pages in the manual. Setting up Pages 7-20 Prepare Hoop with fabric and paper backing (We have tear-away paper backing available at the space) Prepare and install the bobbin Install the hoop Thread with your initial coloured thread Select your pattern Drop the presser foot Adjust the tension Press the green button Preparing the hoop First cut a section of the tear-away paper backing sized to have a good border around the inner hoop. Then cut a similar sized piece of fabric, and arrange the pieces bottom to top: Outer hoop, paper backing, fabric, inner hoop. Slot the inner hoop into place, trapping the fabric between the inner and outer hoop and tighten the screw on the outer hoop, pulling the fabric tight as the screw is tightened. Do not tighten the screw all the way, just enough for the fabric to be held in place. Install the hoop into the machine on the moving arm, securing in place using the wing nut. Threading Pages 11-14 Installing the bobbin Page 10 Loading a pattern Done via USB Navigate to the USB menu option Browse for your pattern Bobbin Winding Page 9 Tips The machine is very picky about what USB sticks it will accept, we have found a couple that it likes, please don't lose or break them Useful Links Manual - https://www.bernina.com/bernina/media/Support/Sewing_Quilting_Embroidery/Out_of_Print_Manuals/bernette-Deco-340-Manual.pdf
