1	Electricity	Electric shock	User	High	All electrical equipment should be checked for electrical safety prior to use. Equipment must not be used unless it has a PAT test label on. It is the users responsibility to do a visual check of the equipment. If any defects are found (i.e. cracked casing, defect in lead etc) the equipment is not to be used, to be quarantined, safety officer informed, and a defect label attached. 2	Misuse of equipment	Damage to user or equipment	User, Bystander	High	Members are inducted into the correct use of the equipment and understand associated risks. Members found to be deliberately misusing equipment may have their use of the machine restricted or revoked altogether.	Low	Med
3	Cutting Blade	Laceration Injury	User	Med	Do not put hands into a position where they can come in contact with the blade. Use a push stick for small items. Do not move hands past the blade. Saw should be turned off immediately after use, using the stop button. Induction covers safe usage of the equipment. A first aid kit is available in the kitchen area.	Low	Med
4	Gloves, Loose Clothing, Loose Hair	Drawing in (being pulled into the saw)	User	High	User of the saw should not wear gloves, ties, scarves, or loose clothing that could get pulled into the blade. Induction covers correct attire whilst using the scroll saw	Low	Med
5	Dust	Inhalation, Fire	User, Bystander	Med	Dust extraction should be used at all times. The saw should be cleaned down on completion of use. A respirator or mask should be used whilst operating this tool for prolonged periods. Induction covers use of the dust extractor, cleaning and location of respirator. The door to the woodshop should be closed to avoid dust entering other areas of the space.	Low	Low
6	Cutting Blade	Snatching, Jamming, Breaking	User, Bystander	High	The correct blade should be used for materials, spare blades and tools can be found in the box under the saw. The blades are very thin and break if the work is forced through them. Only cut wood, plastic and non ferrous metal. Ensure a visual inspection of the scroll saw is undertaken before every use for physical obstructions or damage to the blade. Induction covers allowed materials and usage of blades. 7	Noise	Hearing Damage	User, Bystander	Med	Ear protection is advised and provided. Induction covers location of ear protection. The door to the woodshop should be closed to keep noise to a minimum in the rest of the space.	Low	Low
